“Keep up kid we’re almost there.”
We have been hiking through the woods for two days, and I have not learned anything about where we are going. Rui seems to be determinedly ignoring me as if I am a stray dog he found. He hasn’t treated me badly: making sure I had eaten and rested before the long hiking starts again. Rui even made me a hammock Saying: “We can’t let you freeze out here right?”
Where am I? It feels like I’ve been stuffed in a fur lined bag. The only thing visible is a vertical strip of bright light. Shielding my eyes; I attempt to sit up and look out of the opening of what must be a hammock. Still blinded from the bright light I lose my balance as the hammock flips leaving me falling ten feet to the ground. “You really do have the worst luck in the world kid. Did you tick off one of the Maelstrom or something?”
My vision is hazy; only vague images of being carried are received from my burning eyes. “What happened. Where are my parents?”
What is the more evil: man or monster? When fighting a monster you risk your life and those around you. When fighting a man you risk your very soul.
